In Yekaterinburg on September 19 started XIV International volleyball tournament among women's teams for the Yeltsin Cup. In connection with the anniversary of the most titled domestic club, the Russian team is represented at the tournament by pupils of Uralochka, as well as two volleyball players from Kazan Dynamo. The tournament is traditionally hosted by the Palace game types sports. Naina Yeltsina attended the opening ceremony.
Two matches were played on the first day of the tournament. Switzerland beat Dynamo (Krasnodar) 3:0, Russia beat Turkey 3:0.

The main surprise for the fans, and for experienced volleyball fans it was a gift, was the composition of the coaching staff of the Russian team. The Russian team at the Yeltsin Cup is led by the most titled volleyball coach in the world, Nikolai Karpol. On the eve of the start, he met with reporters:
- When preparing for the tournament, we had some difficulties with the organization. First the Olympics, now preparations for further competitions. Therefore, the national team was physically unable to participate, it had to be replaced by the club team. Thus, in this tournament, the team was formed mainly from Uralochka players with the addition of Dynamo Kazan players and coaches. The Swiss team is a fairly strong opponent, as is Dynamo Krasnodar, which replaces the Azerbaijani team in this tournament. The Turkish team is still a dark horse for us. Volleyball will be of a good class. Although we had to prepare in the same way as hockey players: we all got together just two days before the start.

The Yeltsin Cup is not only a prestigious international sports tournament, but also a traditional event with which Yekaterinburg is associated. This year, the volleyball forum in the Ural capital will once again become a platform for charity events.
For the third year in a row, together with the We Together charity foundation, the organizing committee of the Yeltsin Cup will hold a charity lottery in favor of children who are taken care of by the We Together foundation.
Anyone can become a member of the charity lottery. To do this, you need to purchase special tickets for any of the matches of the tournament, the price is 50 rubles. Each purchased coupon participates in the drawing of prizes: volleyballs, forms of players, souvenir products. The winners of the prizes will be determined by random selection in the lottery drum at the evening matches of the tournament.
Everyone has the opportunity to help those who vitally need your help. All the money raised will be transferred to the We Together fund for the treatment of Igor Senatorov, who has a very serious disease requiring urgent treatment - stage 4 neuroblastoma. For treatment in Germany, it is necessary to raise 3,750,000 rubles.

The second day of the Yeltsin Cup 2016, September 20, was declared a family day by the organizing committee of the tournament. The children and their parents will be treated to children's attractions, master classes, face painting and the platform for the We Together charity event. Also in connection with the 50th anniversary of Uralochka, together with All-Russian Federation volleyball, a symbolic decision was made: the Russian team at the Yeltsin Cup will be led by the most titled volleyball coach in the world, Nikolai Karpol.
Uralochka's mentor and the most successful coach in the history of Russian volleyball will once again be at the helm of the Russian team, though only for one tournament, 12 years later. His assistants at the Yeltsin Cup will be Rishat Gilyadzutdinov, a student of Nikolai Vasilyevich, an ex-coach of Uralochka, and now head coach Kazan "Dynamo", as well as Mikhail Karpol, who is currently part of the coaching staff of "Uralochka".
Recall that Nikolai Karpol is the most titled volleyball coach in the world and, accordingly, the most successful in the history of the USSR and Russia national teams. The legendary specialist twice led the Soviet team to Olympic gold(1980, 1988), the CIS team - for silver awards (1992), and twice took silver from the Russian team (2000, 2004). Karpol led the national teams at six Olympiads and led his teams to the finals in five of them!
At the club level, Nikolai Karpol is also out of competition: Under his leadership, Uralochka became the champion of the USSR 11 times and the champion of Russia 14 times, and also won the European Cup 8 times. The outstanding volleyball coach has been the head coach of Uralochka since 1969!

The second game day of the Yeltsin Cup began with a match between Krasnodar Dynamo and the Turkish national team. In a bitter struggle, representatives of the Russian team won - 3:1 (21:25, 25:19, 26:24, 25:16).
The Turkish team, which suffered a defeat from the club team of Russia the day before, did not waste time, and by the second day work on the mistakes was visible. Against the background of the second Russian team, the Turkish women were no longer in the position of catching up. On the contrary, they made the Russians nervous. The lack of experience (it was this factor that the head coach of the Turkish women Ferhat Akbash complained about the day before) did not prevent the Turkish team from winning the first set.
